Can you tell me more about the PayPal System?

By Richard Brooks of PBC Lenders

I come across many people online everyday who ask the question "Can you tell me more about the paypal system?" This Intel will provide a brief overview of what PayPal is, so that you can decide if it's right for you:

What is PayPal?

PayPal is a popular online payment system used by Millions of people Netwide. Many people on the internet prefer to use PayPal more than any other online payment system - due to its simplicity and wide acceptance. Available in 190 markets and 19 currencies Worldwide, PayPal has proven itself to be one of the most reliable and secure methods of sending and receiving funds online.

You can goto PayPal.com and set-up a free personal account in minutes! They also offer a business account version if you are an online merchant seeking an easy way to accept credit cards. You can always upgrade your account at any time if need be.

How does PayPal work?

Many companies on the internet use PayPal to send and receive money. The beauty of this payment system is that the email address that you used to set-up your account will serve as your identity. None of your personal financial information is revealed when you make your online transactions; only you and your PayPal will have access to this private information. This really helps to cut down on identify theft, and is a great added security benefit provided with PayPal Payment System.

Whenever you receive money in your PayPal account, you can keep it there and let it sit, and use it whenever you want to buy something, make a payment or other paypall transaction. If you should ever want to withdraw your funds out of your PayPal account, you will need to connect a bank account, credit card or debit card to your PayPal account in order to do so.

I would definitely recommend that you always set-up a way to withdraw your money from PayPal. You just never know what may happen and it’s always good to have your bases covered; especially if you ever need the money to pay for something that does not use PayPal.

There will be instructions upon joining on how to connect your bank account, credit or debit card to your PayPal account. And if you don’t have a bank account, PayPal does offer its own debit card that you can take advantage of as a premier member. Their card is fine, but what I have connected with mine is my AccountNow Prepaid Debit Card I feel this card provides more benefits for me. It’s all about preference - this is just what I do.

Is PayPal safe?

Overall PayPal is definitely a great secure Pal to have here in the World Wide Web. I personal haven't had any problems with them. People everywhere are using it: Merchants, businesses large and small, affiliate programs you name it... It is definitely safer than revealing your personal information, every time you want to make an online transaction that's for sure!

PayPal was founded in 1998 and was acquired by eBay in 2002. Their headquarters is currently based in San Jose, California.

I utilise paypal on my website, But it seems there are a lot of people who either dont like using it to buy or just simply dont understand it. If ebay inc. advertised paypal and it's non ebay related uses just a fraction of what they advertise ebay itself that would help no end.

Yes I guess you have a point there... if this was advertised more it could expand their reach. But they report that over 58,000 users sign-up Daily for PayPal - so I guess it's not too undercover

I sometimes sell items on eBay, and usually specify that I will only accept payments via Paypal. That is because when I am paid by cheque I always wait for the cheque to clear before I dispatch the item (due to bad experience with bouncing cheque). Then I use the money in my Paypal account to buy things on the Internet. I do agree that it is wise to set up the facility to pay funds from Paypal into your bank account though.
