Prepaid Debit Cash Cards
By Richard Brooks of PBC Lenders
Prepaid Debit Cash Cards are a great alternative way to manage your finances and control your spending. They basically allow you to pre-pay funds into your card account just as you would with a regular bank account. The money that you deposit on your card is the exact amount available for use. Most prepaid debit cards will not allow you to go over your balance – and this is actually a good thing because it can save you a ton of overdraft fees -- unlike regular bank accounts which typically charge an average of $30 or more for overdrafts! (not all prepaid cards provide overdraft protection but most do.) Practically all Prepaid Debit Cash Cards contain the Visa or MasterCard logo; this pretty much enables you to use it just like any other credit or debit card. Now you can pay bills online or by phone, order stuff on the web, and most will even allow you to activate Free Direct Deposit on your card -- this can save you a Ton on check cashing fees! There are in fact a lot of benefits to prepaid debit cards (also widely known as prepaid credit cards because of the Visa/MasterCard logo). These cards have really gained in popularity these days. One Major factor about them is that they really can help you stay out of debt, because they force you to use your Own money, and as stated earlier most will prevent from going over your balance. When choosing a prepaid debit card you will find that there are several selections on the market; you can find them online or off. But usually the ones online offer more benefits, perks & deals. Here’s a brief summary of the features & benefits you can expect to find with most Prepaid Debit Cash Cards: * Free Direct Deposit * FDIC-Insured Funds * No Credit Check * Powerful Visa or MasterCard Brand * Protection against Overdraft Fees * Fast approval regardless of credit The only thing that might be considered a drawback to these types of cards, is that most usually charge you an upfront enrollment fee, as well as a reoccurring monthly maintenance fee. I’ve seen enrollment/application fees ranging as low as $9.95 on up to $150! And I’ve seen monthly maintenance fees usually falling within the range of $ 4 - $10 per month. Of course there are also the standard fees like ATM charges. Each card may vary - I encourage you to read their list of fees as well as term & conditions so that you can make an informed decision. But don’t just base your decision off fees alone; it is important that you understand the service and benefits that you’re receiving in exchange for those fees. One company that may charge more than the next – may very well turn out to be the best overall deal for you. It all depends on what you're looking for. One thing’s for sure, don’t expect to find a prepaid debit card (or any other financial product) without any fees whatsoever. It’s just not gonna happen. All financial products come along with some type of fees. That’s just the way it is. At the end of this article I have supplied some reference links to a few popular Prepaid Debit Cash Cards that you can check out. Which one do I use? Well I have been through a lot of ‘em lol but my personal top pic is AccountNow I have remained a customer with them for over 2 years now. Basically I like them because they have shown me immaculate customer service; they are constantly improving; and they have great overall benefits like Free direct deposit, free credit builder, online bill pay feature, and other cool stuff. |
